Photo of the Day - Day 365

Wow! I can hardly believe it is day 365 today...where on earth did this past year go?! It flew by so fast! I am grateful for this 365 challenge because in years to come I can look back on my blog and see a full year of my life -  in pictures :) I learned a lot about myself this past year and realized if I put my mind to something I can do anything I want. Just have to have drive, commitment and a bit of energy to push myself :)

Tonight was my 365 cake celebration, Jaclyn and KW made the most amazing cake for me, I almost cried when I saw it, I was so happy!  Thank you Jaclyn and KW for all your hard work and efforts making this day so special for me!

Here I am with my camera cake, it is an exact replica of the camera I have been using all year to take my photos - I could not believe my eyes, it was so beautiful!
Jaclyn and I posing with the cake - sadly KW couldn't make it tonight
Look at the detail!! The on/off button and the dial etc...unbelievable!
My most favourite photo of the year! :)
Part of the group that joined me tonight to celebrate before we cut the cake. Thanks so much everyone for coming and making my night so memorable! Also, thank you for all those that couldn't make it but sent really wonderful congratulatory messages, you guys are awesome xoxo

I know for many it doesn't seem like a lot to do a 365 challenge, but having been through it I am very happy to have tackled the challenge and accomplished it. I plan to do a retrospective this weekend on my experience and will post it below for those that may be interested in taking on a similar challenge in the future.

Thanks to all my friends and family that have encouraged me and been part of my life this past year. I love you more than you will ever know. I am sad to see this blog end, but I am looking forward to taking on new and exciting challenges in the future.
Thanks again for following along my journey this past year and making my life that much brighter xoxo

Photo of the Day - Day 364

What a gorgeous sunrise today! It sure made me happy waking up with the sun streaming in my window :)  While driving to work I realized this would be my last photo of the day where I had to search for one (as tomorrow I already know my photo will be of my camera cake celebration).

Since starting this challenge I have really started looking at everything in a different way, things I took for granted previously I now really see (almost like a blind person getting to see for the first time) as I am always looking for that photo opportunity.  I really enjoy the way I see things now, instead of being too busy to notice, I now take a moment and absorb it all.

It made me a bit sad today to think that my challenge is nearing a close.  In a way I am happy as I won't always have it on my mind, wondering how I am going to get a photo each day (sometimes not finding something until 11pm that night) but I didn't realize how much I really looked forward to seeing my progress day by day, month by month and feeling good that I was sticking to this "challenge" I begun.

I drive by the North River Causeway everyday on my way to work. I always wanted to stop and take a picture on a sunny day but never ever did. So I thought today would be the day....I am so happy I captured the sun as it really wasn't out very long at all today.

Last day tomorrow...come join me to celebrate at the Olde Triangle (University Avenue) from 5-7pm and enjoy a piece of  camera cake (vegan chocolate mocha with oreo filling) that Jaclyn and KW made for me tonight, I can't wait to see what it looks like tomorrow!!  Hope you can make it :)

Photo of the Day - Day 363

Well today I woke up to SNOW, my favourite type of winter was short-lived :) But that is okay, when I went walking at lunch today the snow was falling really softly and it was so beautiful.
Since I have a very small window of opportunity to get a photo of the day lately given that it is dark when I go to work and dark when I go home, I thought I would find a pretty snow fall shot on my lunch break.

                                                             Service Memorial Fountain

It acknowledges the service of Prince Edward Islanders in Canada's military, in Canada and across the world, in the interest of peace and the security of our nation. It recognizes those who serve as members of our national and municipal police forces and as federal and municipal peace officers maintaining peace and good order in our communities. It also honours the men and women in community fire services across PEI who daily protect homes and businesses despite the inherent dangers.

Photo of the Day - Day 362

It sure was nice to go to work today with no snow :) I was having a bit of trouble thinking of a photo today and my co-worker said why not just take a picture of the fact that there is no snow in January (which is unheard of, we usually have piles by now). So that is exactly what I did!

No snow and semi green grass....I love this kind of winter best :)

Then tonight I got a big piece of "junk" mail. It was from Fairmont where if you stay there you can become a member of their president's club for free and you get internet, bike and golf rentals etc...
Well anyways this piece of junk mail was kind of nice. They sent a thick, hard cover writing book, 3 little luggage tags with my name on them, a new Fairmont premier card, and coupons for future stays at their hotels etc..  Their new tagline is "Follow your Passion" and it is engraved on the cover of the book. I think that is going to be my motto for 2012 too. It is a good goal to have :)

Photo of the Day - Day 361

Back home and to my surprise there was no snow left after all the rain. Fine by me as long as the sun comes out, going through sunshine withdrawal already...
Today I had to have a Timothy's coffee I have been craving one for days...and lucky me they had my favourite kind as their "flavour of the day" :)

Yum!

I saw some tweets today that PEI's only Starbucks turned into a drive-thru.  Since Timothy's is right across the street I thought I would check it out. Someone forgot to put their car in park and the car smashed into the building. Sounds much worse than it looked.....

Sweet little Deuce - I missed him so much xoxo
Then the perfect snack with my coffee - Pops made peanut butter from scratch last night in his new Blendtec blender so I had a craving for peanut butter ever since. I love the PC organic (no additives) on sprouted grain bread. Today I had the Squirrely bread but I also love the Mack's Flax (green bag) and the Big 16 (brown bag).  I love it as it has 6g of protein per slice; any extra protein I can get works for me since I don't eat meat or dairy.  I store all three kinds in the freezer so I never get sick of one kind.  Add a banana and its the perfect complex carb and protein combo. This was also my Nanie's favourite snack, she got me on to it when I was a kid.

Photo of the Day - Day 360

Happy New Year!! Today was a beautiful beach day, the weather was wonderful...it sure is hard to leave to go back home tonight! Missing Momma and Pops already xo

On the way to anclote beach we passed through the Anclote National Wildlife refuge and spotted a bald eagle. Not a bad zoom with my little Canon Powershot camera :)

This is how far he was away from my camera
                                                         From another angle
Had the beach to ourselves, not many there on NY day :)
Crane taking a rest on one leg
Did a bit of doodling on the sand...very relaxing
This one nearly got washed away by the waves as I was writing it.
