Photo of the Day - Day 84

I arrived in Florida after the crazy weather and four tornadoes....I took a pic today but I am so exhausted that I can't gather the strength to take it off my computer. Also found out tonight my baby cousin lost his battle and is now with the angels....very tough night :(  Off to bed I go...and will post a pic in the morning when I feel a bit better...
My cousin Randi and her perfect little Cohen - he lived to be 12 days old but he changed my life...and taught me the true meaning of miracles...I love him so much xo

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since I did not take the photo above and it is a 365 challenge where it has to be the photo you took yourself on that day, here is my photo for day 84:
This is Governor's Island - aerial view when I left PEI at 9:30am....11 hours later I arrived in Florida...talk about the scenic route....Charlottetown to Halifax to Toronto to Florida....very long day!
Photo of the Day - Day 83
Getting very excited to leave for Florida in the morning to see my family and for the gorgeous hot weather! I am determined to not get sick this time so I am prepared to battle any bug that comes my way!
I have all my little vitamin packs plus echinacea and vitamin C...just in case.
                                I know it looks like a lot but mostly fish oil - since I don't eat fish
Pretty hard to leave this boy for two weeks but I know he will be in great hands with Kenny his puppysitter. Kenny spoils him!! :)
Today was a whirlwind....this photo is peaceful...the opposite of my day!
Photo of the Day - Day 81
Spring is here! Happy Monday!  Today was a great day, and even though it was a bit cold it was still a nice sunny day.  Here are a couple of  shots of Ellen's Creek:
The Seagulls were having a great time swimming together.
Tonight when I was walking Deuce I saw the most gorgeous sunset - honestly the most beautiful I have ever seen. Sadly did not have my camera so I took a mental pic instead :)
Photo of the Day - Day 80
Today I went to visit my baby nephew and my brother. Poor Ryder wasn't feeling well and didn't get out of his bed the whole time I was there, he didn't even feel like eating the happy meal I got for him. God love him!
This afternoon I went to work for a bit then came home and made protein bars for the week.  They are very fun to make but require tons of ingredients - a bit messy!
This is how they turned out - just need to cut them in 9 pieces and voila!
Photo of the Day - Day 79
I participated in Earth Hour tonight and I hope you did too! :)  It is great to see so much participation across the World to take a stand against climate change.
The candles were so cozy I kept them on for an extra hour - Deuce slept through the whole thing after his walk tonight. We encountered so much black ice and wind that it wasn't very enjoyable and a little bit stressful as I was afraid I would fall - poor Deuce fell twice.
My pic of the day is Earth Hour, I had so many candles going that it wasn't even dark:
Photo of the Day - Day 78
Happy Friday! Today's photo of the day is of a few scenic shots on my way home from work. It snowed quite a bit this morning but by 5:30 it was beautiful and sunny - still lots of snow but you would never know it from these pics.
Photo of the Day - Day 77
Today's photo of the day is home made pita pizza. Cut a pitta in half, add tomato sauce and all the veggies you want. 5 minutes in the oven and you have a perfect little pizza - no mixing dough or waiting for it to rise. Very fast supper - and throw some spinach in a bowl with the same veggie pizza toppings. Sadly I ate the spinach salad before I took a picture.
Here is the pita pizza = delicious!
Photo of the Day - Day 76
Today I looked out my window at work and saw this window completely open, my first thougt was whoever sits at that desk is very lucky to be able to open their window fully... that could come in handy over the summer.  But then after a bit I started to think how cold they must be as although it was sunny today it was still zero degrees...so unless they had coats on while working it may be a bit chilly.
A couple of hours later I looked outside and saw this:
It went  from a fully open window to a boarded up one...not sure what is happening here...
Apparently there is only tenants on the first and eighth floor of this building so this floor is empty. And sometimes kids roam the empty floors and skateboard and play hackysack so maybe a window was broken by accident...I have no idea what happened as it is a brand new building so I can't imagine a window would need replacing already.
So I took Deuce for a walk tonight and this is the sad face he gave me when he realized his Daddy was not home again tonight (Jerry arrived safely in Florida this afternoon):
Poor fella, he was jumping up at the door looking for him tonight and running to the door everytime he heard something...
Photo of the Day - Day 75
So Jerry left for Florida today, so lucky! I don't leave for 9 days...my manager said I could have had it off however this is a really busy month not only with my day job but with FYN and IPAC too.  So instead I stay up in the cold for 9 more days...by choice. Look forward to seeing Mom and Pops and enjoying the heat...9 more days :)
Okay what I am about to say is very strange....in the last year I have "almost" hit 7 dogs on the road...today was nearly a double knock out. I was driving home from work and two beautiful dogs ran out in front of me. Of course I always slam on the brakes and swerve if I can but luckily I have not hit one yet.  But instead of driving away I always take the dog up to its house and tell the dog's owner that I almost hit him/her.  They are grateful that I told them rather than keep going in my car and 5 minutes later another car comes along and it results in tragedy...
Maybe that is my life purpose, the reason I was put  on this earth.... to save dogs from being killed by cars...almost like a guardian angel to warn their owners not to let them off their leashes and make sure they don't play on the road.  I can't think of any other reason why 7 dogs jump in front of me in less than a year...   I don't mind being a dog angel however it frazzles me for the rest of my evening scaring me half to death coming so close to running them over...but I guess it is a sacrifice to let that dog have a second chance at life :)  To make a long story short...I forgot to take a picture of the two little guys I saved....
So instead I saw two little munchkins in the superstore parking lot waiting patiently in the car so I took a pic of them instead:
This is a neat one of Deuce out on his walk...it looks like a very dark cartoon of him or something...you have to tilt your screen a bit to see what I mean...
I am hoping this is the last of the snow....out for a walk with Deuce just before dusk
Grasping for a photo for the day....some days are harder than others!
Photo of the Day - Day 74
Today was a typical Monday morning, up early, the start of a new week - back to work. Poor Deuce, it is his saddest day of the week. He still can't quite grasp the concept of work and why he can't go too.  He loves to have us home with him on the weekend but hates when we leave him on Monday.
This is the sad face I encountered this morning when I was trying to leave - now could you leave this face? It sure is tough, I really wish they had puppy daycare at work.
But when I get home from work he is always happy to see me.  This is him tuckered out after his evening walk.
 Deuce is very happy that Spring is here as he enjoys the warmer weather
for his walks. And so do I, I don't have to dress in 20 layers to walk 3km.
Photo of the Day - Day 73
Tonight my Mom asked me to put up a "cute pic" on my photoblog, so this one is for you Mom xo
I have had sweet little finches for the past 12 years. Kci and Jojo were our originals and then we got Laverne and Shirley. They had 3 babies throughout the years and I had two zebra finches...but only Kci, Jojo and Laverne and Shirley were super finches - they lived much longer than their life span. twelve is very old for a green singer finch.  Sadly Laverne passed away last year and Kci passed away two weeks ago.
Shirley and Jojo are the last two remaining and they seem like babies...they are always jumping around, singing and playing.
Here is a pic I took tonight of a pic of the four originals:
      This is them 12 years ago....lined up on top of their cage - so cute :)
                                     This is Jojo on the pine cone - he is a bit camera shy!
This is Shirley - she is molting (losing her feathers) so she does not look as pretty as usual, but still sweet.
There Mom, you got to see cute pics of your grandchildren :)
Photo of the Day - Day 72
I can't stop thinking about my cousin. She is at the IWK hospital - she is not quite 24 weeks along but keeps going into labour. They have been giving the baby lots of meds to help him in case he is born early. Every time the phone rings I jump as I think it is news about her and the baby. I have been praying all week for the safe delivery of baby Cohen.  Update: Just as I was writing this blog entry I got a call from my Mom and baby Cohen was just born - he is a perfect little baby but only 1 lb 5 oz, he has a long way to go but we are all praying for him.
Not much for photos today, took Deuce for a walk but it snowed last night so not much photo-worthy. I was wondering if the caterpillars that I saw earlier this week, found a safe place before the snow came back..hopefully.
Today I made home made hummus. It called for low fat plain yogurt but all I had was vanilla soy yogurt...tried it anyways and it turned out pretty good. Also didn't have lemon juice so I used water. This was my first attempt at making hummus and I would give it a 7 out of 10.
           Found a great recipe on the web - much more convenient than a cook book
Check out the Super moon - it is the closest it has been to Earth in a long time
               It is even more beautiful - my camera can't capture the amazing details
Update:
Check out my friend @zekeamania 's photo of the moon, obviously he did an amazing job...I am not sure if my camera could take a pic so detailed of something so far away...if it can I have no idea how to do it yet. Great pic Darren!
Photo of the Day - Day 71
Happy Friday!  Two weeks until Florida - counting down the days :)
Today my co-worker had the most beautiful rose, it is called a rainbow rose and is all different colours. I never seen one before so I took a picture:
Today it rained and was pretty muddy, check out the photo below:
Free parking is great, but not sure if it would be worth it on a day like today
and then near the end of the day the sun came out and it felt like spring!
This is the Confederation Centre of the Arts - with all the flags outside
Photo of the Day - Day 70
Happy St. Patrick's Day! It sure was a fun day, and everyone was really enjoying not having that traditional St.Paddy's Day storm - it was sunny, beautiful and about 7 degrees - lots of people out and about celebrating.
This is my co-worker Patrice - she is so much fun and dresses up for every occasion
She even had the "St. Patrice day" suspenders
Then there was a chili cook-off at luch today
7 cooks - 7 samples :) Sadly there was no veggie chili so all I could do was drool...
Even a cute little trophy for the winner of the best chili :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After work was the St. Paddy's day Chamber of Commerce mixer

Great turn out!

Oyster bar!  They also had seafood chowder, clover leaf shaped brownies and tons of
other treats. It was really hard not to have an oyster - (before being vegetarian I loved oysters...)

Yay I won a door prize! I rarely win stuff but a few mixers ago I won the Chinese New Year tickets and this time I won a really nice MRSB cooler, soup thermos, calculator, pen and note pad. :)

Photo of the Day - Day 69

Today was a great day! I went to have lunch with my former co-workers to have "Thai Wednesday". I haven't had thai with the group since last June so it was great to see everyone.  Didn't have my camera so sadly no photo.

After work today I went to my former co-worker's retirement gathering. They had a potluck for her yesterday but I couldn't make it so I went to say goodbye to her today. They had strawberry shortcake, punch and fruit trays etc.. I took a few pics of the group and of Johanne.

Photo of the Day - Day 68

Today was the Managing Virtual Teams session and webcast with Claire Sookman that was organized by NMC and IPAC was a partner. I helped organize and promote it however I was only able to attend the session for about a 1/2 hour.  It is very busy at work and I am involved in a lot so sadly I can't always take the time to attend the sessions that I help organize as Program Chair of IPAC-PEI.
Two of our IPAC members did the webcast questions and it went really well, the presenter included the webcast participants in the full session very interactively.
Here are a few pictures I took when I went down to see how the session was going:
