Photo of the Day - Day 25

What a blur today was....Monday's are usually the toughest day of the week for me...getting back in a routine after 2 days of "un-routine".
Just getting ready to sit down to read a few chapters in my new book and realized I did not take a picture today....
So my photo of the day is of my netbook and ereader (the mobipocket Reader). I did a lot of reading when I was in Florida and I am starting to like the ereading better than a regular book...which I never thought could be possible.

Reading "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest -
the third book in the Trilogy by Stieg Larsson - very talented authour!

This is the Mobipocket Reader view

I read the "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" on the Adobe Digital Editions - not sure
which one I like better....

Now that I see the two side by side...I think I like the Mobipocket view better...the font seems easier to read

Photo of the Day - Day 24

Great Sunday! Slept in, read, relaxed, TV etc.. just had an overall lazy day!
Jerry and Jake did a ton of work on the kitchen - new kitchen floor and next new new stain for the cupboards and countertops.
Here is a photo of the new floor, once the kitchen is finished I will post an update. The boys did a really great job!

It turned out great - the photo doesn't look as good as the real thing

Didn't really have any ideas for photos today so since I spent 2 hours watching this I thought
I would snap a photo

I watched 4 episodes in a row of Sex and the City tonight - yes, I know...mind numbing tv where
you can just  relax and don't have to think about what you are watching (love old reruns)

The weirdest thing - there was a quiz every commercial but the screen was blank...very weird!

Hope you had a great weekend!! :)

Today's photo of the day is of Diva Dates at the Globe, this picture will be posted later tonight but it has not yet happened...we are meeting at 8pm for a night on the town...

Photo of the day...coming soon :)

To keep with the rules of "photo of the day" these pics were taken January 28th but posted a few hours later when I got home.

What an amazing night with the divas - 14 of us meet once a month and have a different theme every month and a different host - depending on who wins the diva dough....lucky me I won the dough tonight so I am hosting a tobogganing and hot chocolate night next month, can't wait :)  Rules are you have to spend the $280 on yourself...hmmm what am I going to do, so many options.

Lots of photos of diva dates:

10 of the 14 divas :)

Photo of the Day - Day 22

Happy Friday! Wow today felt like Monday after having yesterday off for the storm day.   Not much going on today, thought I would take a photo of downtown Charlottetown for my photo of the day:

                                                  Beautiful St. Dunstan's Basilica Church

                                                                         Province House

Part of the Inn's of Great George

This street looks so pretty on a snowy night....

Photo of the Day - Day 21

I almost missed Day 21, fell asleep and just woke up with 10 minutes to go....

Snowday today, the office was delayed until 10 and then closed for the day. I was happy as I didn't want to venture out when the roads were bad, and had a great day catching up on volunteer stuff and relaxing.  Since I didn't leave the house today my pics are pretty standard - snow, snow and more snow!

Today's photo of the day is:

My front yard....really though can you see anything!?
Is my car really still there....

A bit later the visibility improved....back yard

This is what I decided to do at 9pm...shovelling....doesn't look like much but the snow
was heavy...and lots of it

Deuce tuckered out after he helped me shovel off the deck for an hour...what a boy!

Photo of the Day - Day 20

Well I made it to day 20 with this photo blog, almost a month in already...time is flying!  Big storm coming tomorrow...I know what they say about "calm before the storm" , you can tell it won't be long before the 25cm of snow starts to fall.
So sadly I missed the #w2p mixer tonight due to my NCR travel cancellation but on the flipside I was able to attend the Chamber of Commerce Casino night, what a great time and tons of fun!  I even won double my money on the wheel spin, and lots of chips on roulette...didn't do as well on black jack...the dealer was winning everything! :)

So my photos of the day are from casino night:

A little bit of blackjack to get the night started

And some poker - Dennis with all his winnings!

This was my favourite game!! Won lots of chips :)

LOL Karen was getting excited for this win - my orange chip pile doubled when the marble landed on #10  :)

Posin' in our Fedoras with the Pit boss!

Photo of the Day - Day 19

What a beautiful sunny day!  The sun shined all day...definitely a mood booster :)  Went to Ta-Ke Sushi for lunch today with Jaclyn. I haven't had sushi since I got back from Florida so it was long overdue and it was so wonderful to get together with Jaclyn - as always :)

We both ordered the lunch box ($11.50 tax included). Today's photo of the day is of our sushi:

My veggie sushi lunch box - check out the little carrot on the wasabi

Isn't it cute! :)

Jaclyn's sushi - check out the little veggie fish carving on the wasabi

Not sure what kind of veggie this is but cute fish carving :)

This place is my favourite sushi spot on PEI (it used to be Zen and Monsoon) but I really love everything about this place.  Highly recommend it; amazing food, fantastic service, wonderful atmosphere...A+

Photo of the Day - Day 18

I can never remember being this cold (-30 something with windchill)...the heat and fireplace are cranked but I was cold all day at work so I can't seem to warm up even after a litre of hot green tea.

Today's photo of the day is:

These are my baby nephews Ryder and Cruz - rosy cheeks from warming up from this cold day
Munchkin Cruz in his lumberjack winter hat!

Poor baby Deuce, he can't handle this freezing cold weather, he runs outside for a minute and comes in and warms up by the fireplace covered in a blanket...such a sweetie :)  Nights like tonight he doesn't even ask to go for a walk...

Photo of the Day - Day 17

I have never had a more relaxing Sunday...I was supposed to be skating on the Canal today but since my travel plans got cancelled I had a day of rest and relaxation. Slept in, watched a chick flick, did some reading, and gearing up for the big game tonight.
My photo of the day is of my rock collection (gem stones).  I started collecting these rocks a few years ago and pick one or two up every new place I go and have received some as gifts. All the rocks have a different meaning and energy.  I am trying to learn as much as I can about the stones' energy and purpose as I want to start meditating.  I heard it is very calming and good for the soul if done on a regular basis. I do yoga but have only starting learning about the Chakras.  I have tried a couple of meditation cds but would like to do it more often, even 10 minutes a day would be very healing. :)

So here is my mini collection:

Bowl number 1:  Aren't they beautiful! :) I love the texture and how they feel when I pick them up. Each one is different in size, shape and colour. My favourite in this bowl is the snowflake obsidian and the chrysophase (side by side).

Bowl number 2:  I love this bowl!!  My favourite is the carnelian and the malachite
(side by side in the bowl)

Bowl number 3: This bowl has "room to grow", I am hoping to find more new stones to fill this bowl by the end of 2011.   I know it is hard to tell by the photos how big the stones are...the bowls are the approximate diameter of a side plate so that should give a visualization.

Big night for the Jets!! Fingers crossed for the win!!

Photo of the Day - Day 16

I got my wish, it was beautiful and sunny today..after the mini-snow storm :)  But boy was it cold, it looks like it is forecasted minus temperatures for the rest of the week...brrrr

Today's photo of the day is of outdoor sports:
My neighbours were out on their sleds today, bundled up enjoying the beautiful cold day:

Speeding along the freshly fallen snow

Reminds me when I was little,  I used to go with my grandmother  on her Sled

Saw these when I was out for a walk, bird foot prints :)

Now for Vegan Pizza & Movie tonight :)

Photo of the Day - Day 15

Happy Friday! Wow this week flew by, looking forward to a relaxing weekend after a busy week.  Just as I was leaving work tonight it started to snow and on my drive home the weather really picked up and the roads got messy. I listened to the radio on the way home and tons of events were cancelled...I didn't even know we were due for a storm tonight.
So my photos of the day are capturing our PEI storm (we get so many but this is the first one I took pics of )

Snow was really starting to pick up outside my window at work

This is with my windshield wipers on high - at a red light (very wet snow, slushy snowflakes )

This pic looks like a starry night in the summer....not a snow storm!

Hoping for a sunny weekend now that the storm is over :)

Photo of the Day - Day 14

This afternoon I got some disappointing news...my course that was being held in NCR next week got cancelled as the Instructor had to be hospitalized.  I hope the instructor is okay...but I was really looking forward to seeing everyone next week. I was planning on going skating on the canal Sunday, canada@150 reunion Monday, Robbie Burns night Tuesday, #w2p mixer and cafe scientifique Wednesday, Get together with Laurie Thursday, Dee-Dee and Tina Friday and snow tubing Saturday....a full fun week planned but sadly I can't do any of it....but on the bright side hopefully it will be rescheduled soon and I will get to see everyone.

After work tonight was the January Jump Start Health & Wellness Business Mixer.  Great time and really cool activities and booths. Here are a few of the photos from the mixer:

Early in the mixer, before the crowd arrived

Stephanie from "imotion" doing her TRX demo

Me getting a super amazing massage :-)

Yay!! I won 2 tickets to the Chinese New Year Levee

My last pic of the day is of my #w2p mixer nametag - the theme was BYON (Bring Your Own Nametag) with 3 factoids...sad I won't get to wear it next week but hopefully can use it for the next BizUnder40 mixer.

I even included being a newbie photoblogger - day 14 already.. :)

Photo of the Day - Day 13

Another late night at the office...so didn't get much time to get out and about to take some photos.  Instead tonight's photo of the day are photos of paintings that I created myself.  They are on the wall of my living room and I thought I would share them with you so I took photos of them both tonight.

I took two really fun painting classes last year and in a couple of hours you end the class with a "masterpiece" instead of "paint by numbers" style paintings.  The class is very social and we shared lots of laughs. So much fun, a Artist comes twice a year to Souris PEI and teaches the course to whoever is interested in learning to paint.

This is the first one I did, the waves are a bit "wild" but I like the way the little sail boats and seagulls turned out :)

This is the second one I painted, the trees are my favourite part...the frame cut off my "L" in my initials in the lower corner but it still has the "J" :)

I find painting to be so relaxing where the world freeze-frames and you don't have to think about a think except the brush and the canvas...just like kids feel with crayons and a colouring book I suppose. Very relaxing.

So for $65 you get the canvas, frame and the use of an easel, paint and brushes plus a night of fun and a finished product you can display on your walls.  Can't wait until the next time the Artist is in town...definitely going back!

Enjoy the rest of your night!
