Downtown Charlottetown has an adopt a corner program where the adopters plant and care for flowers over the summer.  Rogers adopted this corner and instead of planting the traditional flowers, they planted some flowers but also displayed peppers, lettuce, cucumbers and you guessed it...cell phones!

Here are the unique garden pics:

Photo of the Day - Day 174

Today was a difficult day to find a photo....luckily this little guy was so photogenic and let me take his photo. Very sweet! Last year this field had lots of baby lambs too but they are all grown up this year...no more babies yet.  He just got groomed to get ready for a hot summer!

Photo of the Day - Day 173

What a wonderful evening! Jerry and I were invited to Laurie and Sue's cottage tonight for some culinary magic! And I mean magic....down to the finest delectable detail...incredible!

Laurie hard at work in the kitchen...what a chef!

                         Carrot and curry soup!
Lobster with curry, corn cakes and basmati rice - everything from scratch including the curry sauce...

Gathered around checking out the scientific experiment

Hard at work doing spherification/ molecular gastronomy - "Caviar"

A flavourburst of balsamic vinegar and oil! Amazing!
Carrie and Marcela enjoying their scrumptious dessert :)

I died and went to heaven....this was divine and the mousse was dairy free! I can't remember the name of the beige crumbles....there was an intense amount of molecular work that Laurie did to make it....a mix of pecan, tapioca and tons of steps to bring it all together.

Thanks so much for having us Laurie and Susan! Great to see Carrie, Tim, Gary, and Kim and to meet the talented artist Marcela! :) Amazing evening!

Photo of the Day - Day 172

Today it was sunny for a couple of hours (I was going through sunshine withdrawal) but then tonight it was thundering and lightning. Poor Deuce is very scared and cries when he hears the thunder.  This is what I am sure he would say if he talked:

Mom, something is not right outside.....

Oh no, I don't like this thunder at all......
I will just cuddle up with Daddy until it stops....he will keep me safe

Photo of the Day - Day 171

Today was a productive Sunday and got lots of downsizing/decluttering done before the summer.  Came upstairs from the basement and this is what I see....Deuce all comfy on the couch...now he was never on the couch in his life until recently...funny in his senior age of 10 he now wants to be on the couch all the time, won't eat his dog food unless I add rice, shredded cheese or some form of people food to it (and he loved his dog food his whole life before). I guess he figures he is going to enjoy his retirement years...he sure is a good boy so I guess I will pamper him in his golden years. :)

                               What a sweetie :)

Photo of the Day - Day 169

Tonight Jerry and I went to the Brackley drive in, it was the first weekend for it and the Green Lantern and Hangover Two were playing. Always a fun summer activity, it is very old fashioned as I know many places don't have drive-ins anymore but I am so glad we still have one, so many memories of going there when I was growing up.

Here are a few pics:

Photo of the Day - Day 168

Today was warm and beautiful...my first day without socks at work this year lol :) The weather has not been sandal-worthy until today.  Hoping for more warm weather this summer even though they have forecasted for an extra cool summer in the maritimes...

Here are a couple of quiet fishing boats, they must have taken the day off from fishing to enjoy the weather...or had already finished their fishing for the day.

A couple of weeks ago Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward Island held their 13th annual fundraiser, the Big Baby Barn Build Blitz! Community teams came together at the Charlottetown Mall to build their baby barns. The goal of the event was to fund one entire Habitat Home from the Barn Blitz in one day! 100% of funds raised will be used to fund a Habitat Home on Prince Edward Island. The barns are sold to the general public at $800.00, GST and local delivery included.

I took these photos a couple of weeks ago but they didn't make my photo of the day but I was driving by tonight  and took a photo....there are 4 baby barns left for sale! Come on everyone don't miss out, it is for a great cause if you need a baby barn :)

Here are the builders in action:

And here is the photo of the remaining baby barns...what a great initiative!

Happy first day of summer!! It was cold here but I know NWT and Ottawa sure got some gorgeous weather - lucky them!
There was a cruise ship in the harbour today - the same one that Regis and Kelly spoke about when they had their talk show on PEI last summer. Hopefully they will be back again lots in July and August during the warm summer months.
Here is the Maasdam Cruise Ship:

One with the tree in it....
One without the tree...or only a few leaves in the shot

Photo of the Day - Day 163

Today I spent the day with Mom, Kyla, Ryder and Cruz.  We went to the Farmer's Market, MacDonald's play land and then Mom and I went to see Bridesmaids at the theatre. It was a really great day :)

Cruz just finished playing "patty cake" with his Nanie :) Happy boy!

                                 Nanie and Cruz!

Meeting Ronald...he sure loves him by the look on his face :)
Checking him out to see if he is real.

Sadly no pics of Ryder this time, he was too busy playing on all the playland toys!

Photo of the Day - Day 162

Tonight was diva dates - we went to Sonia's house and had a really fun time!  Here are a few pics from the night :)
Julie holding Jaclyn's absolutely incredible, delectable, pieces of heaven = cake pops!  If you have never tried them before I would strongly advise against it....they truly are way too good and I have a feeling I will be craving these everyday for the next year.  But I must say these little pieces of "heaven on a stick" are the best thing I have ever had in my life! Well done Jac :)

Some of the divas, not all were able to make it
Julie won the diva dough! Congrats Julie :)

Jaclyn did the needle and thread on all of us - it really worked!! Sonia's due date is in 2 weeks so we will see if the needle was right and she has a boy (and a girl next time) :)

It was also Diva Monica's birthday and Pam surprised her with a birthday cake! Happy Birthday Monica :)

Photo of the Day - Day 161

So Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup last night (I can only imagine how happy Judy must be - their biggest fan)!  It is really unfortunate about the Van City riots and the destruction of the city, that was very disappointing and made me feel a little less proud to be Canadian due to the terrible behaviour and violence. Very sad stuff.

As for the Boston win, some fans at my work really got into it by bringing in a goal tender blow-up figure.  Here are a few pics:

This fella spent the day in our building then disappeared at the end of the day!
