Today I finally bit the bullet and went to the night clinic - my ears have been popping since my flight home from Florida last weekend and I am heading to TO on Sunday so I didn't want to have any problems. I fly often but have never had this happen before...not fun!
Since my Doctor is super busy and I usually need to book 6 weeks in advance for an appointment, I decided to go the the Friendly Pharmacy night clinic. What a neat experience compared to some clinics that don't even have windows...first off they have a gorgeous view of the harbour - it was a bit rainy but the view is still beautiful.
Also they have free wi-fi, Timothy's coffee for sale, beautiful murals on the wall, and a very open concept so you don't have to sit in amongst all the sick people you can browse the pharmacy or wait outside and enjoy the view.

I noticed a sign for the first ever no-touch bathroom that was specifically developed for Friendly Pharmacy. I would never use a public washroom at a clinic as I would be afraid to catch the flu but I had to check this out as I was curious to see this advanced washroom.
Well to my surprise you really didn't have to touch anything...everything was automatic...even a really funny gadget called the "Sound Princess that covers restroom blushes". I thought it was neat so I took a picture. I didn't press the button but it is supposed to sound like a waterfall...lol!

Anyways to make a long story short, there is nothing wrong with my ears (which is good news but a very long wait to find out there was nothing wrong) but the doctor did say to stop listening to ear buds on my ipod until the popping goes away and to stop using earplugs for a bit as well (I wear earplugs for a couple hours a day at work when I really need to focus - to block out all the background noise....it is a weird habit I picked up at University while studying...it really does help). So although it won't hurt my ears it will help until they feel normal again...hopefully the flight is not too brutal and my ears are back to normal by Sunday...
Hey Jodi! A couple of years ago on a flight my ears hurt so bad while descending, I was crying, not just a few tears, but actually sobbing. The flight attendant was running around getting me hot towels. Ever since then, I wear earplugs from the moment I get in the plane till we touch down, and I haven't had a problem since.
ReplyDeleteWow Judy, thanks for letting me know. I will have to try that on Sunday as I can't take this ear popping and pain for the descent. I had a bit of a cold so that may have caused the popping etc but it should be back to normal by now...
